Albermarle Chambers is built.
1876
Architect: Israel Nesson. Also known as the Hotel Albermarle, it is designed in the Ruskinian Gothic (High Victorian Gothic) style and located at 282 Columbus Avenue. The building contains “French flats” (same-floor apartments). Subsequent occupants include Childe Hassam, from 1882 to 1884. Because the building is located two blocks outside of the Back Bay, its residents are ineligible for being listed in Clarkâs Boston Blue Book, a society directory.
